DAVID SOBOLOV

Ah, the elusive demo. I've heard so many actors talk about making one, but they never seem to get around to it. Problem is - if you don't have character and commercial demos that compete on a NATIONAL level, you just won't get a shot at getting an agent in the major production centers. And unless the Casting Director is your friend or relative, you probably won't be given an opportunity to read for the well-paying voiceover jobs, either.
Whether produced by me, or another industry professional currently working in the voiceover business, you simply can't join the party without at least a good character and separate commercial voice demo ready to send. They're the tools that get you an agent and open doors to auditions. If you REALLY impress them, some projects cast right off the demo.
SO LET'S DO ONE (or both)!!
Please listen to a demo or two I've directed and produced, then read on...

HERE'S A TESTIMONIAL FROM ONE OF MY CLIENTS:
"David really has the ability to make this seemingly difficult process
easy. Coming from an industry professional, I found it really easy to
trust his directions and coaching, while feeling motivated and energized
during the whole process. Everything was very laid back, and his
suggestions during our session really brought out my best performances. I
wound up with a really great sounding demo which was crafted for industry
ears, and alot more. What you get with David and his coaching is worth
every penny, and then some. Take a listen to my demo and you'll see. I
highly recommend his services." Daniel Ross
I produce demos that show off your unique voice talent - bells and whistles are not the main attraction in my demos - YOU are. I want the industry to get a clear idea of what you have to offer. The goal is to make them dive for their phones to call you in to hear more, not to create a novelty / vanity demo only your friends will appreciate.
My process is a little different than most... I won't throw you into the studio right away. We'll have a prep meeting either in person or over the phone (if you don't live in Los Angeles) a few days before we record to identify your most marketable characters in advance. We'll PREPARE without the pressure of recording or the risk you'll tire your voice out before your work ever gets through the mic.
Next, we'll work together in a two-hour recording session in a comfortable professional studio setting that will feel like the real thing. Since we've had a prep, we can focus on direction - really NAILING the characters - and finding the right energy for your performances. I'll be honest, but kind... and there's no pressure to get it right instantly because most of the two hours is available to revisit the characters we met in the prep. Editing happens later!
If you're already a pro and ready to jump in, we can skip the prep if you want... but to make sure there's no rushing, we'll schedule three hours in the studio instead of two.
Last step.... I don't hand your work off to someone else to edit like most demo producers. I carefully edit each demo personally. I'll select only your very best, most marketable work from our recording session, then edit it into a professional demo ready to present to the industry.
FULL DEMO PRICE includes everything outlined above:
$1000* (due on prep meeting day)

Live outside Los Angeles? No problem!! With digital production, and the good old telephone, producing demos for clients anywhere in the world is a breeze! I'll even pay for the calls to clients anywhere in North America or Western Europe and the local studio we'll find for you will set up a patch so you'll hear me in your headphones. After the session, the technician at your local studio will forward the files to me over the internet for editing. I'll return your demo to you over the net, or I can send you a CD - it's easy!
I offer a 15% discount for clients outside Los Angeles who can provide their own pro studio for the recording session. Please have them contact me in advance to confirm they're set up for digital / remote production.
PLEASE NOTE: Wacky impressions of famous cartoon characters and celebrities are a ton of fun at parties (and sound GREAT on a separate "voicematching" demo I can produce for you), but in my opinion, they're NOT what agents and casting directors want to hear on your character demo. Let's work on showcasing your UNIQUE talents that'll make 'em want to bring you in to read for a role!
* Fees are non-refundable after the first prep session. Demo must be completed within six months.
